Tech billionaire Elon Musk recently shared exciting news about his company Neuralink successfully implanting a wireless brain chip in a human for the first time. The initial results are positive, showing promising neuron spikes or nerve impulses, and the patient is recovering well.

Neuralink’s main goal is to connect human brains to computers, aiming to address complex neurological conditions. The company received approval from the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) in May to test the chip on humans, marking a crucial step after previous struggles for approval.
Unlocking Possibilities with Neuralink’s N1 Implant!
A marvel enclosed in a biocompatible shield, resilient against conditions tougher than the human body. Powered wirelessly by a compact inductive charger, the N1 Implant ensures easy use from anywhere, making groundbreaking technology effortlessly accessible. With 1024 electrodes across 64 ultra-thin, highly-flexible threads, the N1 Implant records neural activity, minimizing damage during implantation and promising a seamless experience beyond.

During a six-year study, Neuralink is using a robot to surgically place 64 flexible threads, thinner than a human hair, onto a specific part of the brain that controls “movement intention.” These threads allow the experimental implant, powered by a wirelessly rechargeable battery, to record and transmit brain signals to an app that decodes the person’s intentions.
Elon Musk shared on his social media platform, X (formerly Twitter), that Neuralink’s first product would be called Telepathy. Telepathy aims to enable control of devices like phones or computers by simply thinking. Initial users are expected to be those who have lost the use of their limbs, with the ultimate goal of achieving faster communication for individuals with conditions like motor neurone disease.

While Neuralink, with Elon Musk’s involvement, has gained attention, there are rival companies with a history dating back decades. Blackrock Neurotech, based in Utah, implanted its first brain-computer interface in 2004. Another company, Precision Neuroscience, co-founded by a Neuralink co-founder, focuses on helping people with paralysis using a simpler implantation procedure resembling a thin piece of tape on the brain’s surface.
Other studies in the US have shown promising results using brain implants to monitor activity and decode intentions, particularly in individuals trying to communicate despite challenges.
