Maulana Salman Azhari arrested for hate speech, In a case related to allegedly delivering a hate speech in Junagadh, Gujarat, the Gujarat Police arrested Islamic scholar Mufti Salman Azhari from Mumbai on Sunday (February 4). During the arrest, a large crowd of his supporters was present. A few days ago, Gujarat Police had filed an FIR against Muslim clerics, including Maulana Salman Azhari, and two others for their speeches in Junagadh. The police took Mufti Salman Azhari into custody on Sunday evening.

Mufti Salman Azhari was kept at the Ghatkopar Police Station in Mumbai during this time. His supporters had surrounded the police station from the outside. Security in the area has been increased to maintain law and order. While speaking to the news agency ANI, Maulana’s lawyer mentioned that Mufti Salman Azhari is fully prepared to cooperate with the investigation. However, there has been no response from the police regarding the case.

Appeal to Supporters Not to Protest:
Despite being taken into custody in connection with the hate speech case, Maulana Salman Azhari appealed to his supporters not to hold demonstrations. In a video released by the news agency ANI, Mufti Salman Azhari can be heard saying, “I am neither a criminal nor have I been brought here to commit a crime. They are conducting a necessary investigation, and I am also cooperating with them. If it is my destiny to be arrested, then I am ready for it.”

The allegations against Maulana Salman Azhari stem from a speech he delivered during an event in Junagadh on January 31. The video of this incident went viral, leading the police to file an FIR against Mufti Salman, the organizers of the event, Mohammad Yusuf Malik, and Ajim Habib Odedara, under sections 153B and 505(2) of the Indian Penal Code. The local organizers had already been arrested earlier. According to the police, they had sought permission from Maulana Salman Azhari to address the gathering to spread awareness about religion and anti-addiction efforts. In the viral video, Maulana is heard saying, “The last battlefield of Karbala is yet to come. There is a moment of silence, and then the noise will come. Today is the time for H*#*#, tomorrow our turn will come.”
