Violence erupted in Haldwani, Uttarakhand, after authorities demolished an illegal madrasa and mosque. Four people died, and over 200 were injured. Shoot-at-sight orders were issued against rioters, leading to the shutdown of internet services and schools.
The unrest started when officials tried to demolish the structures following a court order. A mob fiercely resisted, pelting stones and setting vehicles on fire. Curfew was imposed, and internet services suspended. Most of the injured were hospitalised, including police and municipal workers involved in the demolition.

Authorities say the violence was pre-planned, with stored stones and petrol bombs. The situation is now said to be under control, according to the area DM.
In response, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami held a high-level meeting and ordered the shooting of rioters on sight. He emphasized dealing strictly with unruly elements and urged people to maintain peace.
