Former Maharashtra CM Manohar Joshi Passes Away at 86, approximately 3 am on Friday due to health complications related to his age. The confirmation of his passing came from Joy Chakravarty, the chief operating officer of P D Hinduja Hospital.
He had been admitted to the ICU and was under observation. He had cardiac trouble on Wednesday. He had prolonged age-related health issues. We will be performing last rites at Shivaji Park crematorium and before this, the mortal remains will be brought to our house in Matunga.

Joshi’s health had been fragile since May 2023 when he suffered a brain hemorrhage. This incident led him to the ICU in Hinduja Hospital, where he remained in a semi-conscious state for several days. Due to little hope of recovery, he was later transferred to his Shivaji Park home, where he received care.

Born on December 2, 1937, in Mahad, Maharashtra, Joshi started his political career with the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) and later joined the Shiv Sena. He became a prominent leader within the Shiv Sena in the 1980s, known for his organizational skills and grassroots connect.

Joshi’s political career peaked in 1995 when he became the Chief Minister of Maharashtra, succeeding Sharad Pawar of the Indian National Congress.
