After trailing by 190 runs in the first innings, England made a strong comeback in the second innings, posting a formidable score of 420. Making his debut in the second innings for England, Tom Hartley displayed excellent bowling, taking 7 wickets.
Ollie Pope played a magnificent innings of 196 runs, narrowly missing a double century.

On the fourth day, first session:
Playing ahead from a score of 316/6 on the third day, England’s team surpassed the 400-run mark on the fourth day. Ollie Pope completed his 150 runs during this period. England faced a setback at 339 when Rehan Ahmad (28) got out, breaking a partnership of 64 runs. Ollie Pope then formed a fantastic partnership of 80 runs with Tom Hartley (34), taking the team’s lead past 200.
However, England lost their last three wickets quickly, getting all out for 420/10 from 419/7. After Tom Hartley and Mark Wood (0), Ollie Pope also succumbed under pressure, missing out on his double century. Jasprit Bumrah took the most wickets for India with 4, while Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja took 3 and 2 wickets respectively. Axar Patel contributed with one success.
On the fourth day, second session:
In response to a challenging target, India had a shaky start, and at a score of 42 in the 12th over, Tom Hartley struck twice, bringing significant success for the visitors. Both Yashasvi Jaiswal (15) and Shubman Gill were dismissed without opening their accounts. Subsequently, Hartley dismissed Captain Rohit Sharma (39) at 63, dealing a major blow to India.
From this point, KL Rahul and Axar Patel stabilized the team until the end of the second session, forming a partnership of 32 runs for the fourth wicket. KL Rahul was playing at 21, and Axar Patel at 17.
On the fourth day, third session:
Immediately after tea, Axar Patel was dismissed for 17 at a score of 95. KL Rahul and Shreyas Iyer took the team past 100, but Rahul also got out for 22 at a score of 107. After that, India suffered another setback at 119, with Ravindra Jadeja contributing 2 and Shreyas Iyer making 13 runs.
At this point, Keshav Bharat partnered with Ravichandran Ashwin and the duo took the team to 175 for the eighth wicket. However, just before stumps, Bharat got out after scoring 28, dealing a significant blow to India’s chances of victory. Ashwin also got out for 28 at a score of 177. Mohammed Siraj (12) and Jasprit Bumrah (6*) added 25 runs for the last wicket, taking the team to 200, but Siraj got stumped in the final over, and England secured the win.
