The movie draws inspiration from the legend of the Hindu god Hanuman. Patel takes on the role of Kid, a young man surviving in an underground fight club, wearing a gorilla mask and being beaten by popular fighters for cash. Fueled by rage and haunted by a traumatic childhood, Kid embarks on a journey of retribution against those who have wronged him.
The first trailer for “Monkey Man” has been released, showcasing a film that appears to be a potent blend of “John Wick” and James Bond. While Peele and Monkeypaw are renowned for horror, the trailer suggests a more action-oriented tone.

“Monkey Man” has been in development since 2018, with filming commencing in 2021. It remains unclear when Universal acquired the film from Netflix.
