BJP announced candidate list for Lok Sabha Elections 2024. It includes Union Minister Bhupender Yadav, who has been given a ticket from Alwar in Rajasthan, Mansukh Mandaviya from Porbandar in Gujarat, and Rajeev Chandrasekhar from Thiruvananthapuram in Kerala. Former Chief Ministers Shivraj Singh Chouhan of Madhya Pradesh and Biplab Deb of Tripura have also been given tickets. Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla has been re-nominated from Kota.
Following a successful formula used in assembly elections in three states, the BJP has announced the names of more than three-quarters of its candidates before the election announcement. The first list of 195 candidates includes Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who will be contesting from his previous constituency of Varanasi for the third time. He will be joined by Rajnath Singh from Lucknow and Amit Shah from Gandhinagar.
Key Leaders in BJP’s First List of Candidates
Normally, the BJP changes a significant number of faces in its list of candidates, but this time, changes are only visible in states where there is a new alliance of opposition parties or strong opposition against the candidate.

Delhi Dynamics
In Delhi, four new candidates have been announced. Delhi is a big example where there is an alliance between the Congress and the Aam Aadmi Party. The party has announced four new names out of the five candidates announced so far. Minister Meenakshi Lekhi has been given a ticket from New Delhi, while new faces have been introduced here. Sushma Swaraj’s daughter Bansuri Swaraj has been made a candidate. Changes in some names in states like Chhattisgarh and Madhya Pradesh are also a big reason that many MPs were made to fight assembly elections.

BJP’s Faith in Manoj Tiwari
In Delhi, apart from Manoj Tiwari, there are four new faces. According to Vinod Tawde, all categories, societies, and castes have been represented in the selection of candidates. It includes 34 women, 27 Scheduled Castes, 18 Scheduled Tribes, and 57 OBCs. While giving importance to youth power, 47 youths under the age of 50 have also been fielded. By fielding Union Minister Rajeev Chandrasekhar against Shashi Tharoor from Thiruvananthapuram, along with Anil Antony, son of Congress stalwart leader AK Antony, and actor Suresh Gopi, BJP has also made a strategy to break Kerala. Similarly, Geeta Koda, a Congress MP who recently joined the BJP, has been given a ticket from Singhbhum.
Keeping the Target of More Than 400 Seats in Mind
Similarly, except for the BSP, Ritesh Pandey, who is coming to the BJP, has also been made a candidate from Ambedkar Nagar. The first list of BJP also includes 34 Union Ministers. According to Vinod Tawde, the selection of candidates has been done by keeping in mind the target of more than 370 seats for the BJP and more than 400 seats for the NDA. For this, after conducting surveys at the local level, discussions were held on the names of candidates in the Pradesh Election Committees. Based on the reports of the Pradesh Election Committees, the Central Election Committee, in the presence of Prime Minister Modi and party president JP Nadda, finalized the candidates.
