The Republic Day 2024 celebration in Delhi may be affected due to dense fog during the Republic Day parade, making it difficult to witness the soldier’s performances.
75th Republic Day 2024 Parade might be affected by dense fog.
During the 75th Republic Day celebration in the national capital, the visibility may be impacted by moderate to dense fog. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) stated that on Friday morning, people may only be able to see up to 400 meters due to fog until around 8:30 AM. After that, visibility levels may improve, reaching up to 1,500 meters by around 10 AM. The weather office provided information that the minimum temperature on Friday is likely to be between five to seven degrees Celsius. In such conditions, people leaving their homes early in the morning may face difficulties. Additionally, those watching the parade from a distance on the parade route may find it challenging to see the soldiers’ maneuvers.
The India Meteorological Department mentioned that the absence of active Western Disturbance weather systems in the plains since December 25 is one of the primary reasons for the persistence of foggy conditions in the region. The absence of these active Western Disturbances, which originate in the western regions and bring unpredictable rainfall to northern India, contributes to the formation of a dense fog layer in the plains.
Typically, during these months, five to seven Western Disturbances influence the region. It has been noted that no strong Western Disturbance has been observed in this region so far this winter. Two Western Disturbances have affected the country – one in December and the other in January – but their impact remained limited to Gujarat, northern Maharashtra, eastern Rajasthan, and Madhya Pradesh. Three conditions are necessary for the formation of fog: weak low-level winds, moisture, and overnight cooling. Strong winds and rain, characteristic of robust Western Disturbances, hinder these conditions.
