Review: Jodhaa Akbar
The recently released blockbuster Jodhaa Akbar has been raising both media interest and political temperatures across India and beyond, raising my hopes in seeing an Indian historial film in the mould of Hollywood greats.

Thanks for the review - it has reinforced my decision not to see this film . I am longing to see an Indian movie which is well directed, well acted , thought-provoking and intellectually satisfying. I do not want common song and dance Bollywood formula masala films.

I thought this movie was a popcorn movie after all the director made it clear that it was not an attempt at portraying history accurately. The movie itself was a clash of Hindus V Muslims and this point was clear throughout the film. At certain intervals I was constantly thinking how did this film even get the greenlight as its so badly anti Hindu! Making a movie that portrays mughals as humane is a outright stupid statement, millions of Hindus, Buddhists, etc were killed under mughal rule. Back to movie…Rajputs were depicted as no more than scared babies, what about Rajput pride?? the fighters with great strength and courage!? this was only mentioned in passing but not actually depicted! the part where Ashwarya makes 2 conditions one of them being that she wants a Krishna Mandir in the palace…people (her own family) look stunned as if its some major calamity. We Hindus already have a mindset of shrugging away our problems and not speaking up for Hinduism, we do not need a movie to further capitalise on this! we should be strong and proud like our ancestors none of which get mentioned in History - due to Hindus not being united and other people who try their best to keep us subjugated on purpose(muslims) Proud Hindus such as Shivaji, Maharana Pratap, Subhase Chandra Bhose, Sardar Vallabh Patel, Meera Bai, Jhansi Ki Rani etc these are the movies that should be hitting cinemas not this rubbish!

I have only heard that this movie distorts facts of History. If so, it is wrong. No movie based on facts of History is worth encouraging. After many years, may be it is quoted to change previous facts and that genaration would be inclined to balieve what this film says. Peoples’ faith in hostorical notings at that time when events took place may be lost. I observed the same thing when Ben Kingly is producing the film on the monument of Taj Mahal. The sanctity of one of the wonders of the world must be maintained.

I would beg to differ. The movie is at best a purely fictional tale set around historical events. As such, it should be compared to Titanic - which had more to do with the fictional cross-class romance than the actual sinking of the ship, or Pearl Harbor - which spent more time focusing on the cardboard love triangle of the three lead characters than on the tragedy that brought the US into WW II.
Seeing the film purely as art form, I can appreciate it for its deep, albeit idealistic, examination into the possibilities of pluralism and tolerance.

Ya Mohan Sagar maybe you could also show your appreciation by making a similar movie on Hitler in Hollywood or in Israel, i am sure people would appreciate your “idealistic, examination into the possibilities of pluralism and tolerance” by having Hitler actually shown as deeply in love with Jews.
The Hindus who find it ok to glorify Akbar (who had 30,000 innocent Hindu civilians of Chittor massacred and called himself a ghazi/kaffir killer) are a disgrace to the memory of Maharana Pratap Singh and his countless followers.

Setting aside the controversy, this was a terrible :
- Hrithik Roshan is too used to being a movie star to have any sense of true royalty in order to be emperor, plus he looks too good for the role
- The fight scenes are my main grievance. They were painfully terrible.
- The court intrigue with those grubbing mullahs was supposed to be tricky and intricate, but Akbar didn’t have much subtlety in that sense, so it was easily taken care of and wasn’t deep.
- The only good aspect of the movie was their relationship, which was well done at times and that completely ignored for worse aspects in other times
Overall, bad movie.

Why dont the Indians have the courage to make movies on the holocausts made by Moghuls muslims?
Holocausts and fall of Buddhism and total wipe out
Hindu Holocausts
etc
Isnt this a part of Indian history
Indians should know every inch of reality of the bloodthirsty invaders.

Reason why muslims have large mouth and sharp tongue is because most Indians dont know how to answer the false statements on Hindus.
As a Karma serving Hindu i have most of the times heard muslims yelling on killing muslims when in fact most of this reasons MUSLIMS STARTED THIS WAR then they pay for the result.

why are you using the screen name Hulagu Khan if your infact Hindu?? anyways the way I see it is that Bollywood is totally Muslims friendly as a vast majority of actors are muslim…Saudi Arabia being a muslim countr is sending billions of dolars to finance movies in India….so when a pro Hindu(anti Muslim) script comes out it is rejected straightaway…one of my theories is that its the soft Hindus who rather kiss muslim ass that are making the image of Hindus even worse…for some reason there are those of us who would speak up for islam if it were under attack than our OWN Hinduism.

Hulagu, you are absolutely right. The reason for Hindu inaction on any issue is that, during last two hundred years the British have systematically brainwashed the Indians to believe in British written history only. Who made Akbar great? It is only the British historians in agreement with the Moguls. The Moguls had no reason to fight the British as long as they could keep the loot. The new research shows Akbar must have been a tyrannical ruler, e.g. after taking over town of Chanderi he ordered his army to take the entire population, some five thousand of them to a remote place and massacre them. He made Fatehpur Sikri as his capital after defeating a Rajput Raja and live there for fifteen years and yet history books (all written by the British) tell us Akbar built it and credited its buildings to Islamic architecture. No wonder people visiting Fatehpur Sikri, all these years must have convinced themselves of Akbar’s Greatness.
Hindus must learn to challenge and confront the British and Muslim historians at all level by researching into their own history, own religion and present more united effort be that in Britain or India. Believe me ‘Akbar the Great’ is a myth.

Akhbar ka Jodha or whatever is a waste of money. Wates of $10m. It would have been spent on CHILDREN with MENCAP or even children with learning disability.
SHAME ON ASHUTOSH BEING A HINDU - He has such pedantic pathetic and ridiculous imaginations - all to see the flesh of two young people in glitter!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Expensive way to pleasure one.
