26-year old Hindu man jailed for murder in the Midlands
Shilesh Patel, a 26-year old university graduate from Wellingborough, was jailed for life after being found guilty of the murder of David Haynes (21). The verdict was announced at Northampton Crown Court on 18th February 2008. He will serve a minimum of 18 years.

Is there anything that can be done to help him. For once someone stands up for themselves against being abused, and they get no support from our community. It may be wrong about the murder, but why should it always be Hindus that have to sit back and be abused - He took a stand and should be atleast provided support.

A question that needs to be asked is what happened to the 30 or so t***s that initially attacked Shilesh Patel? What charges were bought against them for this cowardly act? What about the t***s that attacked and rendered Nimesh Patel unconcious?
A group of 30 or so up against a group of 3? Was judgement passed on any of these 30 cowards? The scales were tipped against Shilesh and his friends. Credit is due to him, haynes got what he deserved. The knife balanced things out, the judge should have taken this into consideration.
I feel for the Patel family. Lad was going to get married, had a bright future until his run in with t***s like haynes and co. 18 years for this, considering all the other circumstances, this is an unjust sentence. This links in with an article in one of the earlier HV editions about Hindus in prison. I hope support is provided to Shilesh and his family to get them through these dark days.
This brother has to be saluted.

What concerns me is the future of any community that justifies, or even completely ignores premeditated murder on the basis of the murderer’s religion. If a Muslim or Christian man had ended up in exactly the same situation, I have no doubt that the above people’s opinions would have been completely different. You want to know what real racism is? Take a look in the mirror.

This wasnt planned murder u prat, it was spur of the moment anger after much provocation. Where have myself or Raj said that the murder is condoned because the perpetrator is a Hindu? I’ll teach you about racism u nounce.

He went home, grabbed a knife and returned to the scene, where he then killed the man - that is premeditated by any possible definition, and thus the verdict was of murder rather than anything else.
I put it to you again, consider exactly the same set of circumstances, but with a black, white or Muslim youth at the centre of the crime - would your heart still be weeping for him? You may not have explicitly said that it is condoned because he is Hindu, but the implication, conscious or not, is quite clear.
I’ve been set upon inside and outside nightclubs, and many other places, but I don’t solve the problem by going home, getting my knife, gun or whatever else I choose, and returning to the scene to hunt down and kill the man. Neither do most civilised, mature, sensible, law-abiding individuals, whether Hindu or anything else.
That is not to say that he does not deserve support, as does any prisoner, whatever their background and whatever their crime. Unfortunately, Hindus generally lag behind most communities in offering this kind of support, though there is some good work going on in this regard.

Above is a ridiculous discussion.
Some of what Raj and Hindu have said is understandable. However Hinduism has no relevance to this whatsoever. He was not provoked/assaulted by the 30 men for being a hindu.
Provocation is not enough of a defence here. Anyway, a true hindu ought to be offering sympathy/support to both the victim and the perpetrator?

My heart goes out to his girlfriend, she really must have loved him, and his parents, who may feel the problem lies in their upbringing. There was no problem in your upbringing, it’s the influance of the Asain Soictey!!
What I said at the begining is justified, purely because if it had been a Muslim or a Christian, or a Black guy, I would have said the same.
Dude, you just killed a man…. you aint worthy of respect anymore, unless them next 18 years you spend in jail ruining your life reforms you. You do realise what you just did will haunt you forever, and when you realise the reality of what you did, you’re gonna drown in guilt.
Let this be a lesson to everyone, first, HINDU SOCITEY DOESNT NEED TO BE PUT DOWN BY YOU!! dont let yourself, your family, your community, socitey everyone down. Second, NEVER DO ANYTHING IN A STATE OF ANGER, cause you’ll always regret it, cool down, think on a cool mind, or you’ll ruin your own life and loads of other peoples lives aswel, and it seriously isn’t worth it.

hi i am from the area where this incident took place n i kno both males. at the end of the day all 30 men are guilty to have provoked the situation further but y is it that shilesh decided to run home and arm himself wiv a knife? y did he not stay at home and report them to the police?if shilesh did not stab david then his friend nimesh would not have been beaten unconcious! further more shiliesh was ready to kill because he approached my brother who had to act as a witness against him,asking for the 30 odd males as if he was going to stab them all. pride is nothing when it comes to peoples lives. shilesh in know way can be respected or supported!he disgraced himself and his community, by MURDERING someone over damaged pride and revenge!if shilesh was taking a stand why not fight back with fists instead of singling one male out of the whole 30 and taking his life witha 12 inch carving knife! the knife nearly exited out his back the force was so severe!shilesh deserves to rot! he disgusts me!race,religion does not support any murderer! There was a case there a young hindu lady were murdered by a black guy when both were working in TK max in lesta. Many instances of Blacks carrying out violence against asians particularly against Hindu Shop businesses. I think its about time hindu’s and asians on a whole are not seen as a soft touch and will use arms if provoked or attacked. For too long our community has to stay slient and let blacks carry out their crimes and she stayed slient for fear of not being politically correct.
