Interview: Waytha Moorthy
P Waytha Moorthy is a Malaysian Hindu lawyer, and founder of the Hindu Rights Action Force (HINDRAF), an organization of lawyers which defends the civil rights of the Hindu minority in Malaysia, which is an Islamic country. HINDRAF has been in the news extensively over the past month, due to a huge rally which they organized in late November, which was banned by the Malaysian authorities. Subsequently Moorthy was arrested twice, and left Malaysia with the aim of raising international awareness to the problems facing Malaysian Hindus.
He is currently in Britain, and Hindu Voice UK arranged for an interview with him to gain a first hand account of what has been going on in Malaysia.

Either folks are busy with their vacations or this subject invokes disinterest. It is a shame that at the time when the Indian state is flexing its muscle mostly economic and also military and political, we have ethnic Indians being targeted and suffer discrimination.
I would like to recount a small conversation I had with a Malaysian of Chinese
origin. I asked him about the Tamils in Malaysia, he admonished me and said that I should have called them as Indians, just as he considers himself as a Malaysian and not a Chinese.

This sounds like a system of apartheid. The more the world is aware of this apartheid type regime, the more we can create an international environment to create change. Perhaps a call for boycott on Malaysian products until all of its citizens are protected. Even if the boycott is followed only by hindus, the economic force would be substantial.
Hindus inside and outside of Malaysia, Fiji, etc are ready to support all persons being discriminated against. Satyagraha is action and education. The first thing I’ld like to be educated about is what products come out of Malaysia. Then we can act.

It is the duty of the India government and the British government to take the matter to the Commonwealth Organization and to the U.N to impose sanctions against Malaysia, as they did in the case of old South Africa.

Hindraf is one of the branch of hindutva group. like R.S.S,VHP,Bajrang dal in western countries. it will save the Hindu Dharma(Manu Dharma or Brminical Canons, ie Caste devided Policies). They are Not supported Tamils and Tamil Language in Malaysia. They are only Religious Fanatics. The Temples build by Tamilians, but their prayers are all in Sanscrit Language(God’s Language) only,why?. You follow the Malaysia ( tamil) Indian Leaders and don’t follow theReligious Groups. Beware of these groups activities. suddenly they turn in violance. They wanted collect the Fund from Forien countries(hindutva groups). We are sufferers in Orisa,Gujarat and other places. you can live in Peacefully in Beautiful Malaysia under the Soverign Government
