Bloodshed & violence at Navratri, part 2
In the concluding portion of this gripping two-part series, a young Hindu describes an unfortunate event where he confronted a group of troublemakers at his community Navratri event, where the security were not discharging their duties. The confrontation set off a chain of events which ended in him having to spend the night in a police cell, followed by a long drawn out court case. Such events are not isolated, and have been an unfortunate part of our Navratri celebrations in Britain.

if only all hooligans changed their way of thinking to better themselves, this is a extremly good case but highlights what we have known for years…why Hindus have to think twice before they help out another Hindu!!??

During pooja festivals , you are not normally allow to drink. this is wat leads to such blooshed. But tho, if u`d some fun try smoking canabis or drink bang which is allowed in hinduism. u`ll feel cool and peace like shiva god.

What a stupid comment. Both are intoxicants that are tamasic and lead us away from Brahman and into a world less real than this one.

Makavelli get a life, i don’t know why self righteous types like you feel the need to portray the practices of your sect or what your family/community practice as the “true” Hinduism.
Bhang has been associated with Shiva for ages, so you don’t need to tell us what are “tamasaic” and what ain’t.
And I notice your “Makavelli”, sorry to say but your idol 2pac done enuf drugs.

If every1 wants some bhang….why dont they also drink some zher like Shivji did?????
As usual, Hindus were passive to the extent of not helping their own brothers. The authour is a hero i reckon!

“If every1 wants some bhang….why dont they also drink some zher like Shivji did?????”
Suvarna Sinh where did you get the idea that bhang is only drunk because Shiva had it?
I said it was associated with Shiva, said nothing about it being drunk only because of that.
Do you even know what you talk about or just post away like a lot of self righteous types for the sake of posting?
And stop using Farsi bs like “zher” at least when posting online, poison is called “Kaalakoota”, “Halaahala” or “Visha”.

The latin (or greek, I’m not sure) root of soma refers to the body. It seems to me that the most intoxicating thing in the universe is the material body. Thus we can take that material body and take plants that cause hallucinations then come back to a reality that is a mental construct of our already intoxicated body. Then we realize that this body’s interpretation of reality is wrong (maya) and really a delusion onto itself. Then we realize that this body’s construct of itself is an illusion born of ignorance (avidya) and that the body is having intoxicated self delusion as to its egoform. Then we transcend the body and leave behind the intoxicating ego/body/prakriti entity and see/join reality as it is.
So the pope, the leader of the worlds largest group of pedophiles and child rapists, sees the yoga of transcendence as self stimulation because his body (soma) is focused on self stimulation and thus deludes him from reality. The drink soma, that is gotten through fermentation and filtration through rough hairs, is life itself - born from the eternal/maternal womb and crying out right away for ego.
This is not a rationalization to self stimulate, as some take soma, rather a celebration of the wonderful leela that is brought out by Mahadevi into the creation of this amazing world of egos but a reminder that it is an intoxicant that we need to enjoy AND transcend - see Shiva.
