Scandalous Sanjay Dutt sentenced to six years in Mumbai bomb blast case
Hindi film star Sanjay Dutt has been sentenced to six years imprisonment in the 1993 Mumbai Serial Bombings case.
In one of the longest criminal trials in history, Dutt was implicated in the series of coordinated blasts which ripped across Mumbai on March 12th 1993, killing 257 people and injuring 700 in a single day, making them the most deadly terrorist attacks in Indian history.

The tragic events occured in 1993 and Sanjay Dutt had a sword hung over his neck since last 14 years.
It is by no means a normal life for any human being to be in suspense as regards to outcome of any allegations made and then convicted after 14 years. He has been convicted only of fire arm offences possession, NOT MURDER.
The Indian people believe that Sanjay has learnt his lesson and might have done some stupid things in the past at a young age, but would sending him to jail now serve any purpose?
If he is not released immediately, would he not come out of jail as a hardened criminal which normally happens?
And what would the community benefit by sending him to jail?
He would be one of the greatest loss of the Indian film industry.
The Justic systems alway target people who are easily available (and some instances make them scapegoats) but is unable to tace and convict the real murders or offenders.

Ya Anon let’s not punish anyone, let’s all release every criminal out onto the streets, if you like them so much, you can take them into ur parivaar.
This is the kind of nonsense a lot Indians indulge in, their blind worship of bollywood actors like gods makes them lose all sense of rationality.

I agree that 6 years is a little too much, and the Indian govt either knowingly or unknowingly has used Sanjay Dutt as a scapegoat, Salman Khan who in my view should have done a prison sentence years ago is still out and making movies even though he killed someone by running them over with his jeep! oh sorry he ran over a homless person so nobody gives a damn! this is aweful.

The justice system works in a very weird way in India. Anyway, due to his association with muslim terrorist outfits, I am more than happy to see this scum in jail, I only wish it was longer! No amount of patriotic movies and temple visits will change my opinion of this subhuman character.

I salute the judge who gave him the prison sentence.
He was found in possession of a fire arm and to make an example of him will let all these bollywoodies know that they are not above the law.

I havent followed this matter with any real interest so I do not know much of its history however, the article says:
” ..but Hindus such as Sanjay Dutt, with clearly documented links with Dawood Ibrahim’s “D-Company” gang were also privy to the plot ..”
and goes on to say:
“It is quite ironic therefore that within months of playing that role he was himself sentenced for association with the worse ever terrorist attack in Mumbai!”
If Sanjay was privy to this plot, then, by not informing the authorities immediately, does it not make him an associate to terrorism? In this event, whatever role he plays in films, is simply acting, is it not?
Having said that, I accept someone’s comment above that he has indeed made mistakes in his youth, and associated with the wrong crowd, and arguably, has already “paid the price”. Under those circumstance, 6 years is harsh.
I therefore suggest a different angle of though here that his sentense was a political one where the Muslim dominated “near Islamic” Congress Government in India ensured that Sanjay be jailed in order to “appease” the Muslims living in India that all terrorists are “treated equally” when the the Indian born Islamic terrorist who attacked the Indian Parliament, sentensed to death, is still alive (to the best of my knowledge) under appeal to the then ex Muslim President Kalam of India, and the Indian PM “powerless” to oppose his Muslim MP who “hold the balance of power” in keeping Congress in office. It is plausible therefore that that Sanjay’s fate was written by Muslim influence in Parliament, and the result of an executive order?
Just a theory, albeit born out of deep suspicion of the Congress led Government, or even fantastic perhaps?
