  3. Bhupendra Gandhi Says:

    Namaste

I must admit that I have never heard of Swami Chidanand Saraswatiji until I read your piece in HV. Then I rarely go out, due to poor health.
I am glad that HV is there for people like us to take us deep into the spiritual world of swamis and religious personalities.

Swamiji was indeed fortunate that he had the support of his family from the beginning. But in the end, without his own self-belief, dedication and intellectual ability, he would not have conquered, climbed the podium, attain his heart’s desire and spread the message.

One point I may slightly disagree with is his explanation, his total dedication, his persistance with AHIMSA. Although it is a noble thought in an ideal world, which should prevail at all time, our world is far from ideal.

There are occasions when one has to defend one’s honour when the family is being subjected to kidnapping, rape and murder, nation’s borders are being violated and traitors are putting the fasety of the nation in danger.
Ahimsa may not work, as it did not work with Hitler.

Even Gandhiji, the cleverest exponent of the art of asimsa who plotted the downfall of the mightiest empire, brought it to its knees, has mentioned in his various writings, esseys that he would not have succeeded in his endure to free Bharat from the clutches of the British Raj if he was fighting the Germans or the ruthless japanese imperialism. He would have been dead long before any one would have heard about him.

British are clever but considerate, not ruthless or cruel like Japanese. Another great exponent of ahimsa was the Emperor Ashok, the nobelest son of Bharat and a grandson of the warrior king Chandragupta, an untouchable child brought-up by Sharma Vishnu Prasad, popularly known as Chanakiya, a great philosopher, economist, diplomat and a visionary whom Gandhiji described as the leading light, the greatest son of Bharat since Lord Rama and his mentor, his Guru and his motiveator. Even he kept a strong army and guarded the borders of his empire by force if necessary.

Reading this piece, I feel Swamiji is a great motiveator who will spread our Hindu wisdom in the West. But let us have more converts, let us share our cultural wealth with others who would like to come into our fold

After all if we believe Hinduism is the best medium to unite the world, the best religion, then why not encourage others to be part of this great universal family?

    Jai Shri Ram.

    Bhupendra

  4. P. Mallikarjuna Rao Says:

Swami Chidanand Maharajji’s message is very inspiring and more important for the present youth swept off thier feet by the western influnces. What impressed me in the interview is Swamiji’s insghts into Hinduism and its universality. His solid base in the tradition blended with his liberal approach distingishes him as an ideal representative of Sanatana Dharma. We need more such Swamijis today.

  5. Swami Param Says:

Chidanand’s interview was a good example of the problem within Hinduism. Being too tolerent has led to the theft of much of the Hindu/Yogic lifestyle. Many Hindus, like Chidanand, actually encourage this theft by sanctioning non-Hindus who pretend to teach the various Hindu/Yogas. Devoted and concerned Hindus should openly encourage interested non-Hindus to formally become Hindus and certainly before they begin teaching!!

Far too many Hindus are also confusing the issue by mis-using the Christian “God” (and “Lord”). A Swami’s mission is to protect and defend Hindu Dharma–in the face of any obstacle. Look to the wisdom of Ganesha!

  6. Raj Kumar Says:

I am truly inspired by your vision.
I have written an article on Dharm, Hinduism and world peace wich I would like to share with you and your readers. please tell me where to send it. Thank you

  7. pairamblr Says:

Pardon me that I feel like expressing my thoughts, which are not in line with Sw Param.

I am afraid that the confusion in Hinduism is due to lack of clarity and knowledge of Hindu Scriptures.

Sw Param is very worried over “theft”. I only wonder, when people learn Vedanta - are they performing an act of theft?

To gain the knowledge of Brahman - has it got any limitation ?

What does the Dharma and Karma mean and tell us or guide us?

Are these terms limited to people who are born to hindu parentage only ?
If some one who is not born to hindu parentage and then study the hindu scriptures, then what happens?

wonder what will be the replies!!

    enjoy
    cheers
