Refuting media slander

Monday, February 26th, 2007

In a recent article in The Guardian, it was said that Heinrich Himmler, one of the chief Nazis, used to carry around a ’special leather bound edition’ of the Bhagavad Gita, and quote from it when his executioners were having moral scruples about the mass-killings that they were asked to do. The implication was that Hindu teachings were used to justify the mass slaughter of innocents. Hindu Voice UK asked indologist Koenraad Elst, who has written extensively on the subject for an in depth response to this particular allegation regarding Himmler and the Gita.

The dreaded “H-word”

Monday, February 26th, 2007

When I was asked to write this article for Hindu Voice, I struggled to think of how I could start it off. So I’ll start with a conversation I had a couple of years ago while on holiday in California. Scotland Yard to form ‘Hindu Safety Forum’

Monday, February 26th, 2007

A ‘Hindu Safety Forum’ is to be set up by Scotland Yard, as a result of the first Hindu Security Conference, organized by the Hindu Forum and attended by representatives of the Metropolitan Police. The conference took place on the 22nf February, at the London School of Economics, and was attended by around 160 delegates.

Top of the list of Hindu concerns was the lack of security for culture specific issues which most police officers would not be able to understand and therefore be reluctant to intervene in. Monday, February 26th, 2007

When Israeli Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin was murdered in protest against his peace efforts, many parallels were offered by commentators, most frequently with the Egyptian President Anwar al-Sadat, but also with Indian Prime Ministers Indira Gandhi and Rajiv Gandhi.
