Nightclub management back down over display of Hindu deities
Extensive pressure has forced London’s BlagClub to back down on the display of Hindu deities in its premises. Several Hindu groups and individuals had been campaign against BlagClub after receiving complaints from Hindu clubbers over the extensive use of images of Lord Ganesh and Lakshmi in the nightclub’s interior dĂ©cor.

I would like to congratulate various Hindu HRGs in their endouver to force the night club to come to a round table conference.
It is a pity that some hot heads acted independently. I do not rule out forceful protest but it should the last and not the first action.
As Gandhiji wrote several times, “Saintlyness is the best form of offence.” But again times have changed and even Gandhiji admitted that his Satyagrah would not have worked if Bharat was a German or Japanese colony. He would have been dead before any one had heard his name.
So every situation is different. But it is encouraging to note that our youngsters are getting involved in our fight to preserve our culture and religion and if some one insults us, they are ready to stand up and be counted.

it is great that our voices are being heard but it is not right to use violence as a means of getting it heard. We havent fully won if the club owners back down due to fear of attack; they have to understand why it is morally wrong to display deities in a nightclub.

If there was koranic text in the nightclub, we all know that where the blag club now stands there would have been a crater.
For too long have people underestimated us. In the 21st century, there is a generation free from Mohan Gandhi’s shackles, if we are provoked, we will retaliate, by any means neccassary.
The fight has not been won until those images are removed.

It’s a beggining of our victory. The defeat of Hindu’s here in Nepal by the people of Joshua 2 declaring the socalled secular country. I request Hindu’s of world over to unite & fight as the case of Blagclub on Nepal also.

All those that talk about Gandhi and peaceful methods should realise they are bound to fail. Gandhi definately didn’t free India. Just google the Bombay Naval Mutiny of 1946. India got its freedom through the british fear of more violence after getting tired from the violence of world war 2. Not by some old man with a stick.

I am happy with the result, the fact the club owners have taken notice of the Hindu anger that they have generated, violence was used but that really makes no difference we as Hindus need to do whatever is necessary to make our voices heard and whatever is necessary to stop this sort of ridicule.

Dear sir, I append my comments for your consideration.
“Hindus have been very lax about the abuse of its deities and religious practices. Overseas they have allowed use, abuse and misuse of the deities. The Hindus themselves are guilty of this in India and other countries. This could have been because of indifference or ignorance, but in all cases taking advantage of liberal stance of Hinduism.
We must respect our own religion which is liberal; no one is or need be ‘converted’, and there are no complulsory rituals. What one does is between the person and god. This philiosophy and practice makes it one of the supreme religions in the world.
Now, there is no need for violence, but education about Hinduism is the key word.
Your columns have demonstrated the meaning and value of Hinduism to even Hindus. like me. This process of education should be extended to ‘non-believers’ as well.

First of all I would like to congratulate Hindu Voice for your efforts to uphold the Hindu religion. I would also like to congratulate all those who went out and did something to stop the denigration being perpetrated in the Blag club. It is sad to think that the great Hindu religion seems to suffer
from its own greatness at the hands of its majority of weak and indifferent followers. Take the example of the virtues of tolerance and forgiveness. As a born and practising Hindu myself, I abhor and shun violence in any form. But denigration of religion is a far greater sin and ignoring blatant denigration even worse. I do not wish to be party to it. Hence if all our rational and peaceful overtures are being continually disregarded, we have no choice but to use harsher means. It has to be impressed around the globe that Hindus are not going to be silent bystanders any longer to denigration of their deities, scriptures and Saints.

I think its utterly disgusting! I would not recommend images of Jesus Christ and Mother Mary in any nightclub. We do have Temples and Church for Lord Ganesh, Lakshmiji and Jesus Christ, Mother Mary to stay!!! Leave the night club for the night clubbers. Respect and be respected.
Stern action and written and public apology is needed.

Its about time Hindus used a bit of force. It seems that the more benevolence we show, the more we are taken advantage of.
I dont condone reckless violence…but if diplomatic approaches by the Hindu community are ignored - as they always are because we are seen as peaceful and apathetic (akin to PATHETIC??), then I feel this is tantamount to disrespect and disregard for our sentiments. Muslim and Sikh sentiments are protected and upheld by the public at large and yet us Hindus arent afforded with the same respect!
The world should know that Hindus wont sit by meekly whilst their religion is slandered and ridiculed and treated with disdain…our images arent for others to use at their discretion for the wrong purposes…
Plaudits to those who are taking a stronger stance when it comes to our religion.

Dear All,
This is a moral victory. The withdrawal of dieties from nightclub is only half the battle won. It only highlights how ill-informed the rest of the cultures are about hinduism and their sentiments. We need to work beyond this point and let other cultures understand our intelligence and cultural superiority so that we can prevent this happening again. How many times should we protest their has to be an end?
We indians and hindus are considered as “PRIMITIVE” by the western world ……this is what one of the netchatter mentioned about indians…. redcurlyhair_ireland (00:59:25): INDIANS ARE FILTHY, HORRIBLE, PRIMITIVE PEOPLE.
However, historically its proven that indians are hindus with a ancient cultural civilisation with lots of scientific background for e.g using mathematical calulations for astronomy, building houses and gradens, practising yoga and vegtarianism for good health………this was even before birth of chirst and during a period when the western world was trying to understand how to beat hunger and clothing by hunting animals.
I think instead of discussing amongst ourselves our greiveinces we should go out into the community and educate other cultures about hinduism. Explain the rational behind our religious believes and its advantages to run a disciplined, peaceful and respectable society. We all know the centuries and effort spent in building the religion please explain to everyone you come across may be hindu or anyother religion.
We have to attain, then demand and command self respect for our religion.

Appreciate the people who attacked the place.Gandhiji’s time of non-violence is gone.We need to be more aggressive about our religion as people are taking us for granted.If muslims can be so fussy about it then why should we take it.Has anything been done regarding the picture of amba mata on Southern Comfort Whisky Bottles.Its a shame we aint doing anything about it.In India itself, Artist M.F.Hussain who is respected by the indian community, takes a piss in his paintings as well.Making naked drawings of our goddes, its absolutly ridiculous.

What is wrong if the images of Lord Ganesh or Laxmi are displayed in the Night Club.This images are beautiful.Why do people think they are insulting.Religion is in your heart and in your good deeds towards human beings ,animals and nature.Images ,statues,temples don’t mean a thing.Stop wasting your time.and do something good for our endangered planet.

I think that in many situations, its a shame that some Hindus act without thinking by causing violence and attacking. For example when M F Husaains artwork was exhibited, some members of our community unnecessarily splashed black paint on the paintings which did not solve the problem at all. However it’s good to hear that others in our community care about it and actively campaign against the problems caused by the western world. By attacking people/places the problem is simply not solved and we could solve it another way such as petitions and letters to our government to stop immoral behaviour against our religion.

Violence can only work if there is an option for non-violence and non-violence, I am convinced, can only work if there is an option for violence. But education is the solution.
As the world is, and always has been and always will be, there will be no end to conflict rather periods of greater or lesser himsa. The good can only try to promote ahimsa when it is their turn to act. That is by all means available though efficiency and careful consideration must be given to such action.
Not easy but the way the world is for those that seek a spiritual path. (animals just go about eating one meat or the other)

We may not be as demanding..or vocal, but we are just as strong….dont be deluded into thinking otherwise!…we are strong as we think we are. Stand up and proclaim loudly that Hindus have strength and resolve!…because we do, but we must believe it ourselves first. Only then will others agree. To many Hindus are sefl defeatest. Take “a-says” for instance…yeah, sure religion is within us…if we love God, then thats all that matters…sure…but hey, we live in a world where there are many religions, many communities and we are part of the HINDU community. We need to stand up and be counted therefore. Even animals, when they form groups and communities, assert their rights over other groups. Otherwise, where will Hindus be on the global stage? Hinduism is a WORLD religion, professed by more than a billion people. Its naive to think that just being a good Hindu in heart and mind will suffice. We must assert our rights, we must strive to get an equal share of the global pie when it comes to respect and recognition.
Its too simplistic to say that Hinduism and God is in the heart.
You are within your rights to belive that there is nothing wrong in displaying images of our Gods and other Hindu paraphenalia in a public place…but I must disagree in this instance and in this circumstance. If youve ever been to a club, you will know what it is about. I myself go often, and in doing so, I realise that people drink heavily, engage in ofetn sexual acts, act lewd..all this mixed in with good old dancing and having a good clean fun. Yes, Hindu images are beautiful, but this is no place for what are beautiful, yet ultimately SACRED images.
Shah..you say images, temple dont mean anything…but they are signs of our people, our religion, our legacy and our teachings. Disrespect these and you disregard what they represent. And thats exactly what these club owners are doing. Lets not be naive into thinking that they are there as a talking point for club go-ers…I seriously doubt that in their drunken stupor, they will find enlightement and seek to gain knowldege about the “elephant headed weird thing in the corner covered in vomit and urine”.
As for M.F Hussain…….black paint on his pictures was a benign step if any!…he should be lucky that his whole collection wasnt set alight because thats what this so called artist would deserve. His paintings depicting our Gods copulating with animals was disgusting to say the least. Why would any Hindu ever support him???
Why oh why must Hindus bend over backwards to appease everyone else? Why do we we feel that it is our God given duty to always claim the morla high ground - especially when in doing so, we gain no benefits and only ridicule from doing so? Nobody is advocating that we become like muslims and censor anything and everything even remotely against Hinduism…but please, cant even a few us grow some spine and figt against those who go out of their way to slander our religion and our people?
Somebody mentioned using petitions to sort out problems. Yes, do use petitions…use diplomatic means where necessary and in most cases…but where this is tried..and tried once more and then fails, sometimes force must be used. Even the meekest of animals will fight back…even biologically we are programmed to react when we are in fear of attack, or need to protect our selves or family. So why supress such feelings beyond reason? The Hindu community, when under attack, must be protected…by diplomatic means first..and if in the event that this fails, no, we dont accept our fate, but as HUMANS, we FIGHT.

Violence did work when the hindu organasations were just talking the club did not take them serious but when they where attacked they had a sudden change of heart. So it seems that violence can work.

I wonder if those who attacked the blag club would next take on the Pakistanis using The Shiv Mandir as a slaughterhouse. I guess not. The blag club won’t respond with violence but the Pakistanis will.
The Blag Club did not mean to deride our faith. If I went into a club and saw Lord Ganesh I would raise a glass to him. The natives would ask who is he and I would be forced to explain and would feel happy at the end. They would say “You drink with your Gods?” I would reply of course “Our Gods are not restaurateurs they ain’t concerned with Food & Wine. They are concerned that we live with nobility & Pride”
My point - The Brits are not the problem, they did not abuse eg. MF Hussain, our faith.
The most imporatant question is why did the Blag Club bossman choose Hindu Gods?
When we take violence to those who will not repsond eg. Blag Club then we are as bad as the Pakistanis. Violence in its most fierce and clincal execution must be levelled at those who begin with violence. I have used it myslef several times but never against those who are not violent.
Again the most important point is “Why did the Blag Club use these images” and can we forget the Blag Club and focus on the Shiva Mandir Slaughterhouse!

There is nothing one can do about this Shiva Mandir in Pakistan or the Ramna Kali Temple in Dhaka, which was demolished and a park is now established named after Surrawardy, who has organized the mass murder of the Hindus in 1946 in Calcutta.
The only solution is the exchange of population between India and Pakistan ( and Bangladesh), which should have taken place in 1947. Muslims can all go to Pakistan and Bangladesh from India and India will take back the remaining non-Muslims from Pakistan and Bangladesh.
British Muslims are propagating for a Muslim Kashmir; in response British Hindus should propagate for an exchange of population.

I have a crazy suggestion but conforms to our faith.
Every Hindu now asks Great Indra “Dear Lord - Great Thunderer - we ask that for every cow and life slaughtered in that Shiv Mandir. Make them re-born fully focused on exterminating those who harmed them. Re-incarnate them to exact brutal and terminal punishment of that state and its people that chose such a hienoius act” I say every Hindu should make this their mantra. Say it if you call yourself Hindu. Never forget it.

Action
We need more Hindus to raise the Humble Pig, crop it for fine ham, bacon, roast pork (must have apple sauce) etc. We need this industry to expand. It would be good for Bhramins to lead the way on this.
Outcome
Whilst they (Pakis) are killing cows using 1 acre of ground to produce 1500lbs of food. Our Hindu pigs will produce in the acreage over 4500lbs of food. We can feed our people more. I want pigs all over India, all over the place, everywhere. Because where they are Hindus will prosper!. I want Hindus wearing the hide of these beasts everywhere. I want car seats made of these. Desk inserts, beer mats, tea mats, hats, etc.
If every Hindu had Ham Sandwich and a beer everyday then the Moslems would be in decline. Why? Simple because we are unshackled. We are free to party. Beer, Ribs, BBQ, Bacon & Eggs for breakfast. Wonderful Italian Salami, French Wild Boar Saussage. Honestly folks lets’ eat our way to freedom. Seriously think of it four times a day you are showing your freedom. That is a very powerful instrument.
Historic note - The Aryawarth (Rg Veda) believed very much in eating, feasting etc. A good feast breeds cameraderie. Feasting because they knew the power of this event. Four meals a day you can show freedom or shackles!

In the spirit of Hindu tradition that says “Aa no bhadraah krtavo yantu vishvatah” (let noble thoughts come to us from all sides), I’d like to share a recent church service I attended which I feel had interesting observations to make that are poignant to the issue here at hand. I hope that it is not offensive to fellow readers to have Christian words displayed here, and in all humility, I ask that fellow readers understand the underlying message of what I am trying to say rather than decrying it for the source or twisting the message for other purposes.
The reading was from the Gospel according to St Matthew, Chapter 9, Verses 9-13:
[Begin extract]
9 Passing on thence Jesus saw a man called Matthew sitting at the Toll Office, and said to him, “Follow me.” And he arose, and followed Him. 10 And while He was reclining at table, a large number of tax-gathers and notorious sinners were of the party with Jesus and His disciples. 11 The Pharisees noticed this, and they inquired of His disciples, “Why does your Teacher eat with the tax-gatherers and notorious sinners?” 12 He heard the question and replied, “It is not men in good health who require a doctor, but the sick. 13 But go and learn what this means, `It is mercy that I desire, not sacrifice’; for I did not come to appeal to the righteous, but to sinners.”

The sermon that followed was, I feel, poignant to the issue here at hand and I reproduce it here:

Our Gospel reading recalls that when Jesus found him, Matthew was “sitting at the Toll Office”. He was a Tax Collector; that meant that he was a collaborator, he worked for the Roman authorities. Furthermore, like other Tax Collectors, he probably over-taxed his own people in order to make a healthy profit. Understandably, fellow Jews loathed him; they reckoned he’d sold his soul for the sake of the Shekels.
That Jesus should have chosen him at all was surprise enough; thet He should sit at table with him and some of his like-minded friends was the last straw for the Pharisees.
The zealous Pharisees probably would not have understood Jesus’ answer that he is like a Doctor, needed by the sick and not the healthy. The Messiah was expected to come and justify the righteous, the Pharisees, and yet here He is sitting amongst sinners! This must have seemed like outrageous nonsense to them, “proving” to them that Jesus was not the Messiah.
Perhaps things haven’t changed in the past two thousand years.
Does the Church sometimes seem to be like an exclusive club from which those who don’t keep the rules are, or are made to feel, excluded?
Do we, who attend church services regularly, look down on those who don’t…or can’t?
Are we focused on maintaining a members-only club, or is our focus on reaching out to the lost, the sick and lonely?
Are we more like Doctors…or Pharisees?

As one of the people who attended the Blag Club and its campaign I find some the comments in this thread interesting and others quite funny.
1, Dear Satya… the website is called Hindu Voice, not Christian Voice - thank you for your reading of the Gospels, but obtuse gospels from a religion in which some of its followers have been and still are antogonistic to Hinduism is not what we really want to hear.
You sound like a “Hindu” who is trying to convert through the “back door” maybe you would like to make your point through the use of Hindu Scriptures next time.
2, Deeno — all I can say is that next time you are at the Stand Up comedy trials I will be there cheering you on and sending you more and more alcohol to quench and fuel your rants.
3, Vass Shah - you sound like a carrot munching tree hugger…

As for images and statues and temples not meaning a thing tell that to the relatives of the dead who where blown up on the 16th August 2006 in India this year when they were celebrating the birth of Krsna.

The Blag Club campaign had a resolution but almost got screwed up by the Gandhian (in name only) Indian chai pakora crowd who, for us youger people, are still in power.

Seems you have the answers. How do you handle the real facists eg. The Pakis or Where were your ‘witty’ comments when the Sikhs laid commentary. As you ponder these and my next beer and ham sandwich what’s your position on the NE Christians, oh one last point how do you suppose we should empower the Dalits or cleanse this Varna issue.
You also failed to lay commentary on the Puranic Only festivals
In summary what’s your answer. We are at least brave enough to Stand Up and offer solutions. The blag club was a Minnow in a deep river.
A pointer. Check this site animalahimsa.com get in touch with one of our Hindu boys down there - Mr Nitin Mehta. These are the kind of Hindus that do more harm than the Blag Club. The focus on a 10% issue (meat only consitiutes 10% of the western diet) with Hindu backing. Food is irrelevant. This is Hinduism NOT Bhojanism. People like these bring our Great Faith to the Kitchen. Then An-Aryans see this faith as some kind of a joke.
I look forward to a caustic response from you. Once you have simmered down please attack each one of my points.

If I may humbly submit, it is of note that whilst Shri Krishna did indeed exhort Arjuna to fight when doubt entered his mind on the kurukshetra, it was that same Shri Krishna who insisted that war should be the very last resort, to be turned to only once all other means had been sincerely tried.
I realise that by making this comment, I am merely opening myself up to yet more personal abuse, which seems to be what now passes as the acceptable alternative to constructive discussion, but like that same Shri Krishna said, the fruits of our actions are not in our control, so we should not concern ourselves with that, but should merely act because we know that is the right thing to do. In that spirit, I feel it appropriate to make this comment and therefore do so.

Ok No abuse Satya. However, I do believe that Arjun had to calm Lord Shree Krishna re. Bhisham. However, the Lord himself had never exhausted (let alone commence) discourse with Bhisham. Point - War is appropriate and does not need us to labor on Ahimsa, as demonstrated by LSK when he sought to Kill Bhisham.
Too many use Ahimsa as an excuse for In-action. Once it is fairly established that the perpetrator is free of reasonability or their objective is to undermine the Aryan way then neutralizing force must be invoked.

Ahimsa is a call to right action. That can include war and education. Our friend George has learned what wrong action (in planning, blame, etc) can do to a nation. Indeed the loss of SH is probably a good thing but the problem will continue until the middle east (and Pakistan, and UK, and US… and India) is educated into what humanity can mean as opposed to what a gaurantee to heaven can create. Killing a few people may feel good (I hope not actually) but attacking an ideology is more important - the Vedas, the Gita, Bhajagovindam… have helped tremendously through history (note our reverrance to their message though none mention India, Hindu… This is the most powerful attack. But it must be feuled by wealth and at times force - air dropping Gitas into Mecca, Ramayana in every hotel room in Europe…

A possible scenario ‘gitas in mecca’ ‘ramyne in europe’. Methinks of one appropriate phrase “Pearls to Swines Sir”
I believe that we need to show the Greatness of the faith (empirically eg. show people that have been re-born to show that Hindus are proportional)and question the relevance of the deaths comissioned by the Abhramic faiths.
We need to focus on the corrosive works of Indians who practice the faith of nations that slaughtered their brothers and belittled their heritage. Until these An-Aryans learn that they bring shame upon this nation and their family then India still has enemies.

Until Mecca is free, the islamic soul is not free. Until the christo-islmists see that there is but one god and nothing else, they will seek division amongst themselves and every one else. Thus we can kill one bin laden or a thousand. Like Ravana’s head, or the hydra, only another will pop up in its place.
That is not to say that Ravana’s head should not be removed. Simply to point to it being a temporary solution to a much greater problem - the ego. thus until all egos are liberated, how can we be?
But that is an eternity of hope. In the meantime we do what we can, talk to whomever will listen, and seek ourselves. We build temples, have public discussions, give grants for endowments, publish the fallacy of false faiths…
