Diwali in Trafalgar Square
London’s annual Diwali celebration took place on October 15 in Trafalgar Square, London. It was attended by at least 20,000 people. The organizers were the Mayor of London and the Diwali in London Committee, chaired by Nitin Palan. The event began at 4.00pm with messages and prayers for peace. This was followed by a variety of music and dance performances plus spectacular light displays and floating lanterns.

I was there too. Had a chance to hear about this new group called Kalakaar. The lead singer (I dont know his name) was great. I remembered him singing devotional songs (Bhajans) in Stratford Radha Krishna Temple when he came with Sunrise Radio Presentor Ravi Sharma around Janam Ashtmi. He was absolutely great then and I did think that he can put his voice to business and it seems like he is on to it now.
Good luck and best wishes to Kalakaar!

I missed this yet again!
Why is this great event never advertised by all the Hindu Temples?
How is one supposed to know about events like this taking place?
Im sure across the country they had Diwali lights switched on in their respective towns(?).
Any good links?

I agree with Haribol. I too was unaware of this taking place in Trafalgar Square, London. It sounded like a very good evening for the family. We look forward to it next year? Please, please ensure that it is well placed and advertised in advance, at common places/sources.

Is there a way to let the world know that this celebration is taking place in London? Maybe, this will be an enlightenment to the world and they will learn something about our hindu culture. Send us a notice or link when this event will take place in the future.
