Racist comments of actress Rimi Sen
She is often called Bollywood’s comedy queen, but not many people were laughing after listening to Rimi Sen’s racist comment during an interview about her role in Golmaal. Talking to Nitin Shethi of Glamsham, Sen said:
“I play a sweet and beautiful girl in the film. The best thing that I like about the film is that though it has four heroes, I am the only heroine. Rohit Shetty is amazing as a director. He can make even a black African look pretty.”CLICK HERE TO READ REST OF ARTICLE

Miss Sen’s comments, while incredibly stupid, don’t bother me as much as the reaction from the Indian press. It seems that no one had a problem with her
idiotic comments at the time.

I don’t think Miss Sen actually meant what she said. We can’t take her to be one from intelligentsia. She is a common girl who enjoys life without caring for anything that goes in society or politics.
This is a common problem faced by India today as more and moe youngesters lack interest in culture, society, values, national interest and the innocence with which she gave such a statement is just an example.

This just shows that in her scheme of things to express racialist views is not considered at all wrong, just a part of life. Obviously this is not acceptable. If somebody said something about Indians like that, we’d all be very pissed.

Just plain disgraceful.
I remember reading somewhere that the biggest problem facing Indian women is this infactuation with fair skin. The fact there are creams available that are designed to lighten the skin shows how widespread the problem really is.

On this last point, I remember back in 1998, while in India during the campaigning for the general elections, I heard a number of people (almost exclusively women) expressing sentiments such as “Sonia Gandhi is so beautiful; I will vote for her only.” Yet again it makes me wonder whether modern-day ‘democracy’ is all it’s cracked out to be..
Having said this, it’s worth mentioning that whilst I agree Indian women tend to be obsessed with fair skin, equally, in my experience, Western women (and indeed men) tend to be obsessed with tans..

There is more to racism than not thinking someone is pretty. People react to such insensitive comments with so much anger because they see their chance for a moment of moral superiority over the supposed racist instead of focusing on the economic and social effects of actual racism. Everybody thinks we all must be walking on our toes and that the least little comment is going to launch the bomb. Human cruelty goes much deeper than a stupid comment.

Why Hindu Voice takes up this type of tripe? Leave it to the secular worms.
