35 Hindus Killed in Kashmir
35 Hindus were killed in the Indian state of Jammu and Kashmir in separate incidents over the Mayday weekend. The attacks came days before the Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh was set to meet separatist leaders in Kashmir for talks.

Kashmir is always a part of India even though the majority of the area are Moslems. So I say that the Indian government must defend its rightful land against any teroris movement. Kashmir has history of Hindu kingdoms in the past and it is something we must preserve for our next generation in the future.

How horrible and sickening to see those innocent children being killed by these stupid murderous scoundrel. In which religion can one find that teaches its people to behave in such a beastly manner.
Those stupid bastard out there are really cowards hiding behind their religious line to kill children whom we adore and love. Those idiot should be fighting with the military if they are brave enough and not with the innocent souls.Imagine the horror and agony that these child might have experience during the terrible hour of shooting.Sometimes, I wonder, what the heck the God is doing up there and doing nothing and just stood by and watching those asshole killing innocent lives like this one.

I recently spent 6 weeks in Kashmir doing earthquake relief work in the worst affected areas. I was fortunate enough whilst there to enjoy the hospitality of the Kashmiri people (almost all Muslim, of course), despite their own extremely harsh circumstances. I’d like to share my impression of their feelings that I could ascertain from my conversations with them.
They view the terrorists as existing purely to make Kashmiris’ lives as hard as possible - they told me about terrorists blowing up and shooting up schools and mosques, for example, which they said didn’t quite back up the claims of being pro-Islamic or pro-Kashmiri.
On the flip side, they view India as a country that could have helped them but chose (notice, actively chose) not to do so - they feel India has abandoned them. I spoke to countless individuals who expressed feeling personally betrayed by India; they say they have continually given their loyalty to India and suffered because of it, but India has given them nothing back. It is, of course, easy at this point to quote Kennedy’s “Ask not what your country can do for you…”, but I doubt very much whether the average Kashmiri would be hugely impressed.
I leave it to you to read into all this what you will.

^^^ Thing is, what can India do apart from more troops and more investment? I know that the GOI ain’t angels, but the fact is, Kashmir has been gettin a hell of a lot more investment per citizen than most Indian states (in order to “win hearts”, as Vajpayee used to put it).
I don’t know what the Kashmiri Muslims mean by help. I would be interested (genuinely) to know their persepective of WHAT they would want. Maybe u can help.

Utter rubbish, if the Kashmiri Muslims were so loyal then why did they give tacit support to Muslims who ethnic cleansed Kashmiri Hindus. In 1989 local Mosques were blaring out messages asking Pandits to leave, local newspapers were saying the same thing, the strategy adopted was to kill a few and drive out a thousand, ask any Kashmiri Pandit and he/she will tell you what really happened. And India did not betray them, they betrayed India, India pumped so much money into Kashmir and still does (as Dangerous mentioned) which is why the poverty rate is very low in Kashmir compared to other Indian states. They will only be satisfied when they manage to massacre and drive out all non-Muslims, now that Hindus are gone from Kashmir, they have shifted their attention to Jammu Hindus and Sikhs (recall the massacre of 36 Sikhs) and finally after all non Muslims are gone they will try and get their so called “Nizam-i-Mustafa” established (a euphenism for an Islamic state comparabale to the third reich as far as Hindus are concerned just like Pakistan is today).

Different people meant different things by help. A number of Kashmiri Pandits I spoke to felt that they were betrayed by Article 370; they felt that India had allowed Hindus to be wiped out in the valley and not done enough to prevent or stop it. In addition, of course, there are issues around resettlement, etc. Many Muslims felt that though most of them had remained loyal to India, they have all been regarded and treated as terrorists, purely because they are Muslim.
Note I have at no point here tried to interpret or comment upon any of this, nor have I given any personal opinions on the topic; I merely provided their comments to me for the interest and information of those here, as a way of sharing the thoughts of the Kashmiri people that I came across. As I said before, I leave it to you to read into all this what you will.
